Jodie Foster - Elysium
Although Elysium directed by South African-Canadian filmmaker, Neill Blomkamp, was positively reviewed when it was released in 2013, it was still deemed a poor follow-up to his extremely successful 2009 film District 9. Jodie Foster plays Defense Secretary Jessica Delacourt, one of two main antagonists in the film. In past roles, Foster has been able to hone her characters with talented accents. Aside from a deadly “over-seriousness” to the character, Foster was unable to perfect the futuristic accent she chose to pursue. For this reason, her character seems out of place for most of her scenes.
