As an international collaboration between South Korea and the United States, Okja premiered on Netflix back in 2017. Exploring the relationship between a young farm girl and her genetically modified super-pig destined for slaughter, Okja was regarded as one of the New York Time’s most influential films of the 2010s. Nonetheless, it’s difficult to get past the “over-the-top” zoologist, Johnny Wilcox, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. His performance was “overdone,” in an “over-the-top” obnoxious and uncomfortably strange manner.
